"Floating" style frames are very popular across the Atlantic. These frames are designed for artworks whose canvases wrap around the stretcher from all sides or for other canvases with beautiful edges. Such a canvas stretched over a stretcher is placed inside the frame. The key feature is that due to the gap, the viewer can see even the edges of the artwork - especially if a larger gap is left. This type of frame is suitable only for canvases on stretchers.
Floating frames are special frames with a gap between the frame and the artwork. These frames have already conquered America, but more and more fans are discovering them in Lithuania as well. In the Remai.lt framing salons in Vilnius and Kaunas, you will find a wide selection of floating frames. We offer a choice of classic black floating frames with gold or silver strips and Scandinavian wooden texture floating frames. Floating frames look tasteful, elegant, and modern. You will never go wrong choosing a floating frame for a modern painting. It is important to know that these frames are suitable only for paintings painted on canvas. A floating frame can be snug against the painting, leaving no gap. In that case, the side edge is covered (which is very useful if the side of the painting is not neat), while the front part of the painting is not covered at all (all other frames will cover at least a few millimeters of the edge). Viewed from the front, only the black, silver, gold, or wood-colored border around the painting will be visible. If you decide to leave a gap when framing in a floating frame, you will give the framed painting a sense of space and reveal the side of the painting.
